Our Training and Employment Specialist, Geraldo Ximenes, explains the benefits of the new Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) system.
Timor-Leste hospitality workers can now get recognition for their skills through a new assessment system launched by H.E. Joaquim Amaral, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs.
Timor-Leste’s hospitality industry is the first sector to benefit from the new Recognition of Prior Learning system (RPL) which is being managed and implemented by the first training centre, East Timor Development Agency (ETDA).
Timorese hospitality workers can have great experience, but they often lack formal qualifications to prove it. Now, with the new RPL assessment system in place, they can get their skills and knowledge formally certified, so future employers can recognise their ability.
The RPL system is designed to help harness the potential in Timor-Leste’s hospitality and tourism industry and is supported by Australia’s Workforce Development Program.
