The Board and members of the Timor-Leste Australia Alumni Association (TL3A) are passionate about supporting the Government of Timor-Leste’s COVID-19 response.
Since the start of the pandemic they’ve worked with government representatives on a range of prevention measures. This has included providing the Ministry of Health with one hundred quarantine hygiene kits, seven megaphones and printing COVID-19 prevention posters for distribution in communities across Timor-Leste.
TL3A President, Marcia Exposto e Silva said, ‘As an association one of our key aims is to give back to the community. That’s why we’re supporting the Ministry of Heath’s response to make sure people’s needs are met and to keep them safe and healthy during this public health emergency.’
Most recently, they assisted the National Directorate of Water and Sanitation Service (NDWSS) by providing 20 water tanks and hand washing facilities to help communities maintain good hygiene practices. The water tanks were handed over by TL3A Vice President Felix Piedade and were funded by the TL3A in partnership with the Australian Government and have been installed in public places including in some local markets and schools in Dili and the municipalities
